Ask your MP to attend the health and climate briefing

Following the emergency climate change meeting in Westminster, led by Sir Patrick Vallance last year, the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland—Prof. Sir Gregor Smith—will now brief MPs on the health impacts of the climate crisis.

We know that climate change is already having severe impacts on human health, from death and illness associated with extreme weather events—such as the record heatwave felt in the UK last summer—as well as storms and floods, and the increasing spread of diseases.

Meanwhile, policies to support climate action can have important co-benefits for our health, such as reducing air pollution and improving mental and physical health.

We can ask all MPs to attend this crucial meeting. Working together, we can help ensure that hundreds of MPs take part in this vital briefing so that they’re fully up to date with the health impact of the climate crisis.

Writing an email is a quick, powerful and straightforward way to take action—even if you’ve never done so before. If you use our template email without personalising it, it could take less than a minute (although adding a personal touch will make your email more effective).

The briefing will take place in a matter of days—7 February 2023—so we urgently need to get this in MPs’ diaries. Please, send your email today.
