This policy explains how we handle your personal data.

Who we are

Zero Hour is a campaign organisation run by Zero Hour Ltd (company no. 12846343), registered at Francis & Co Chartered Accountants, Second Floor, 123 Promenade, Cheltenham, England, GL50 1NW.

Data controller is Zero Hour Ltd and our data representative is Dr Amy McDonnell, contactable at info@zerohour.uk.

Our commitment

We respect your privacy and will:

  • Comply with UK data protection law
  • Keep your data secure and confidential
  • Be transparent about how we use it

We're working towards being as privacy-friendly as possible, limiting the data we track, collect, and store, including IP addresses and other personally identifiable information.

What we collect

  • CRM Records: when you join as a supporter or interact with our site using your email, we create a record in our CRM. Our CRM does not use cookies.
  • Transactional Emails: sent as a one-off when you complete an action and to follow up on the action you have taken. These don't subscribe you to anything.
  • Newsletter & Action Emails: only if you explicitly opt in. We track opens and clicks to improve our emails. Unsubscribe anytime via the link at the bottom of newsletter and action emails.

How we use your data

We process your personal data under the lawful basis of legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our legitimate interest is helping people support, engage with, and take action on our campaigns. Where you opt in to newsletters or action emails, we process your data on the basis of consent.

Who sees your data

Your data is only seen by Zero Hour staff and trusted third-party providers who help us run the campaign, for example, our CRM, email delivery, payment processing, and hosting providers. We will never sell your data to anyone else and we may share your data with partners only with your explicit consent, except where required by UK law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Object to or restrict how we use it
  • Withdraw consent at any time (for opted-in emails)
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office

Cookies & tracking

We aim to limit first-party cookies, third-party cookies, local storage, and session storage wherever possible. Here's what's actually in use:

  • Simple Analytics: we use Simple Analytics that gives us general visitor insights only and does not use cookies or store any personal data.
  • YouTube: where possible we use Privacy-Enhanced Mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
  • Meta Ads: we advertise on Meta but do not use the Meta Pixel.
  • Google Ads: we advertise on Google but do not use Google Ads tracking, Google Analytics, or Google Tag Manager.
  • UTM Tags: we use UTM Tags in query strings to identify traffic sources. They store no IP addresses or personal data.
  • ZH Tags: we use ZH Tags in query strings to identify traffic sources. They store no IP addresses or personal data. URLs with ZH Tags are stored in a small functional cookie and flag on your browser for website functioning.
  • Modals & Pop-Ups: we store a small functional flag in your browser to remember when you've closed modals and pop-ups, so we don't show them to you again.
  • Sessions & Login: we use a small functional cookie in your browser for website functioning and keep you signed in while you use the website.
