Five years ago, I introduced the Climate and Nature Bill in Parliament. Yet four Prime Ministers later, our laws are still far from strong enough to protect our communities or prevent dangerous climate and nature tipping points.

We know the reason: we are still up against some of the most powerful forces on earth: big oil and gas, industrial agriculture, and an emboldened climate-denying far right. It can feel overwhelming, but I refuse to give in to despair. When people come together and stand up to vested interests, we change the course of history.

And as we head into a new year, you - Zero Hour campaigners - give me that hope. Whether you’re organising locally, meeting your MP, or simply raising the banner for climate and nature, you are shifting the dial and showing that the public demands real leadership.
Next year, we can take the Climate and Nature Bill all the way. Together, we can show this Government that people across the country expect action at the scale the science demands. The way forward is clear: deeper mobilisation, stronger parliamentary infrastructure, and even more empowered grassroots organising.
So I’m asking: will you help make 2026 the year we turn the tide on the climate and nature crisis?
Zero Hour’s Big Give appeal is already 35% of the way towards its £80,000 target and every pound is doubled this week.

The timing couldn’t be more urgent. Next week marks 10 years since the Paris Agreement, when nations committed to taking action towards limiting global heating to 1.5°C, yet we are now heading for 2.6°C. We must update our laws, strengthen protections, and treat climate and nature as the existential emergencies they are.
Thank you, sincerely, for standing up for your communities, for the climate, and for the living world we all depend on.
