Yesterday in Parliament something wonderful happened.
Those who have been following Zero Hour’s campaigning will be well aware that we have a brilliant group of Parliamentarians who support joined-up action on climate and nature. We’ve collectively worked alongside them to create momentum in Parliament, and to show the Government that this support is both deep, with incredibly committed individuals, and wider, with Zero Hour campaigners in every constituency in the UK.
Yesterday, that breadth and depth of support was given a new voice in Westminster with the launch of the new cross-party group, the Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus.
The Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus is led by Olivia Blake MP as Chair, but she is far from alone, joined by no fewer than nine Vice-Chairs from all the major political parties: Carla Denyer MP (Green), Pippa Heylings MP (Lib Dem), Chris Hinchliff MP (Independent), Simon Hoare MP (Conservative), Clive Lewis MP (Labour), Roz Savage MP (Lib Dem, and CAN Bill sponsor), Simon Opher MP (Labour), Alex Sobel MP (Labour/ Co-op) and Nadia Whittome MP (Labour).
The launch, hosted by Oliva Blake, included speeches from Rt Hon Chris Skidmore, Chair, Climate Action Coalition; Chris Packham, broadcaster and campaigner; Dame E.J. Milner-Gulland, Professor of Biodiversity, University of Oxford; The Rt Hon. The Lord Deben, Chair of the Climate Change Committee (2012-2023); and Katie White MP, Minister for Climate, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

That breadth of support is critical, because one of the key things the Caucus aims to do is to address the destructive and wrong-headed politicisation of climate and nature. Chris Skidmore rightly described the potential of the Caucus to be “a place where cross-party collaboration becomes the rule, not the exception. A place where science, compassion, and courage drive decisions.”
Zero Hour is proud to have been asked to provide the secretariat for the Caucus. That means that we’re helping facilitate its work, connecting decision-makers to the scientists and citizens they want to hear from, and making sure they can make the strongest arguments for climate and nature in Westminster and beyond.
The full potential of the Caucus will only be unlocked if the leadership is joined by even more parliamentarians from across the country, so we want to ask: Is your MP playing their part in delivering a joined-up plan for climate and nature?

In a crisis, we need hope more than ever. Hope isn’t something that happens to us; it’s something that happens with our collective action. We will deliver that hope in and outside of parliament to ensure Parliament puts restoring nature and delivering on our international climate commitments at the heart of its agenda.
Today, ask YOUR MP to join this pioneering vehicle for change, the Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus.
