Zero Hour is proud to work with many inspiring figures helping to advance urgent, joined-up action on climate and nature. Today, on International Women’s Day 2026, we’re spotlighting some of the incredible women and allies who support Zero Hour and help lead the movement to drive meaningful change—from politicians, scientists, and youth activists to leaders and grassroots campaigners.
Women have consistently been sidelined during top international negotiations including at COP29 where women made up only 1 in 4 of countries' delegations and only 4 out of 17 UNFCCC bodies had 50% or more women, with some falling below 10%.
Despite this systematic underrepresentation on the world's biggest stages, women and girls are disproportionately impacted by nature loss and the climate crisis. Women have higher mortality rates during natural disasters; are more likely to be displaced; are at highest risk of poverty due to climate change and most directly impacted by food poverty when nature breakdown threatens food security.
That is why their voice in shaping the urgent action required is so integral to delivering the solutions and it’s thanks to women that many international and national agreements have progressed. Whether it’s Christina Figueres chairing UNFCCC to deliver the historic Paris Agreement alongside Laurence Tubiana, Mia Mottley warning of the real risk of a billion of climate refugees or Sherry Rehman pushing urgent need for loss and damage payments to help communities most directly impacted by climate breakdown.
Leading voices are working with Zero Hour to deliver the urgent climate and nature legislation we need because currently we are off-track, underdelivering and feeling the consequences—whether it’s the cost on our energy bills, cost of food or health impacts, here in the UK. It is thanks to female leaders that the urgency of the crisis remains in the public eye and we are proud to work alongside these leaders calling for a fairer, greener future for all.
