By creating a stronger, science-led and joined-up plan, we can transform our energy and food systems—create space for people to live in harmony with the natural world—and create the green jobs of the future, so that we can not only survive, but thrive in a zero carbon, nature-rich UK.

Nature has become humanity’s blind spot. We have lost our connection to the environment on which we depend for life, polluting it with our waste, with little regard to its sensitivity and extraordinary complexity. We haven’t recognised, until almost too late, that Earth’s natural systems are deeply intertwined, and that as we cross ‘safe’ boundaries, we unleash mutually reinforcing impacts which are shifting our biosphere outside of the stable zone that enabled modern civilisation to develop.

This landmark report explains in jargon-free terms why the UK’s Net Zero Strategy (NZS) is not bold enough to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The Climate Change Committee is doing a great job highlighting the Delivery Gap, but we need to talk about the Ambition Gap whilst there’s still time to do something about it.
